Description: 'Sync/y' is a site-specific interactive sound installation that aims to create a conversation between the past Spacetime and the current Spacetime. The installation records the viewer's voice and the surrounding sound. The system has a program running, which keeps recording and playing back recorded sounds every 30 seconds simultaneously. By standing underneath the parabolic speaker, the viewer will hear his/her own voice blending with previous viewer's voices and the surrounding sound from the past recordings. The process is repeated along with new layers of sound constantly overlaying in the system. These recorded voices and sounds gradually begin to overwhelm and abstract the particular architectural space. It eventually constructed an experiential sonic sculpture that generated by resonant frequencies based on the particularities of the architectural space. 'Sync/y' serves as a sonic time machine, in which the viewer can stand and experience the intersection of Spacetime.
