“Our Synchronized Time” is an installation exploring the potential connections between different spacetime. Are there any connections between different time and space? The change of light and shadow visualize the change of time. Different light and shadow change at the same time in diverse spacetime creates timezone, which helps us to refer where we are. Will we experience the same thing no matter where we are?
“Our Synchronized Time” comprises a series of kinetic, physical sculptures, each containing two mechanical arms driving two rotating light sources. The upper mechanical arms represent the sunrise and sunset time in different time zones where the lower arms represent time in different areas. The lower mechanical arms rotate to the same angle, same speed around every 4 mins, then slowly rotate back to its own rhythm as light and shadow change distinctively in various areas. The light beam is cast through the space creating interventions and interactions with the architecture and its audience. The minimalistic and mersmerizing installation combines light and movement in a multi-dimensional space where invites visitors to develop a multi-sensory experience. The mechanical arms rotate, each to their own rhythm, sync up with each other for a moment, then go back. With the light tracing the path and sound its echo, we lost where we are in a moment.
